The Hudson River Derby returns for a 34th installment as New York City FC travels to Harrison, New Jersey, to face Red Bull New York at their home for the second time in 17 days.

New York City is on a streak of three consecutive away wins at what's now Sports Illustrated Stadium (it was Red Bull Arena for the first win of the streak) and is unbeaten in the last five regular-season derbies (4W-1D-0L) dating back to September 16, 2023, the one and only 0-0 draw in Hudson River Derby history.

This season, both NYCFC and the Red Bulls enter their first regular-season meeting with identical 5W-3D-5L records and with 18 points, though with New York City holding a superior +5 goal differential compared to the Red Bulls at -8, currently the difference between 5th and 6th place in the Eastern Conference.

Each team enters on identical form across their last five MLS games, as well, NYCFC and RBNY both winners of back-to-back matches directly following back-to-back losses, with a draw preceding those two-match loss and win streaks. Even the standout attacking players to watch for each of Red Bull and NYCFC have identical MLS stat lines: Julian Hall of RBNY has nine goals scored and two assists; Nico Fernández Mercau of NYCFC has nine goals scored and two assists.
