• Home match vs Spokane Velocity postponed

The Cosmos won't be playing soccer later today in Paterson. The team announced that the USL League One match against Spokane Velocity has been postponed due to travel disruptions caused by severe weather on Friday, August 7.
The postponed match, originally scheduled to be Jamaican Heritage Night, will be rescheduled to a later date that's still to be announced. All tickets purchased for the originally-scheduled match will be honored on the rescheduled date. "The Cosmos appreciate the understanding of supporters, partners and all those planning to attend Saturday’s match. Additional updates will be shared through the club’s official channels," the team said in its postponement announcement.
The Cosmos (3W-2 D-13L) are currently on a three-game losing streak in USL1 play and sit at the bottom of the table. Spokane (10W-2D-6L) is fifth in the league and riding a three-game winning streak. The postponement means the Cosmos next host AV Alta FC (7W-8D-6L, seventh place) at Hinchliffe next Saturday, August 15.
• Cosmos sign 20-year-old defender from amateur affiliate

Additions by the Cosmos don't stop as the USL League One side made its first midseason signing from local amateur affiliate American Soccer Club New York.
Defender Stalyn Acosta is joining the team ahead of the final stretch of the League One season. Acosta, 20, is a native of Brentwood, New York with previous professional experience playing in Puerto Rico for Ponce FC.
The defender spent the last two summers playing with ASC New York in the National Premier Soccer League, helping the team make the playoffs for the first time this year. Acosta seemed to impress during the Cosmos' friendly against ASCNY back in June, where the NPSL side won 2-1.
Acosta joins the USL1 side at a crucial time, since starting left-back Davey Mason is expected to miss the remainder of the season due to injury. Acosta could help fill the hole, though the jump from amateur to professional in the United States may take some time. Acosta is the second Fighting Tomcats player to be signed after defender Will Noecker joined the Cosmos in March.

• Veteran midfielder Ozzie Ramos signed, Chevone Marsh abruptly cut

The Cosmos have brought on an experienced name at midfield, signing lower league veteran Ozzie Ramos ahead of the final stretch of the USL League One season.
The team also announced the shock release of forward Chevone Marsh.
Ramos, 29, joins after spending last season with Texoma FC in USL League One, becoming the fifth Texoma alumnus to join the Cosmos this season.
Ramos has played across multiple teams in the third division of US Soccer, including stops with National Independent Soccer Association (NISA) sides San Diego 1904 and Albion San Diego. Other stops include Central Valley Fuego (USL1) and brief ones across two seasons with Forward Madison (USL1) and Carolina Core (MLSNP).
"We have a number of lingering injuries in our midfield and Ozzie brings veteran experience and leadership to the club," said Cosmos head of soccer Giuseppe Rossi. "He's trained with us for a couple of weeks and has fit into the team nicely."
Ramos’s best work, both in recent times and what I witnessed with him in NISA, is that he's disciplined. Unafraid to play on either end of the field, but highly skilled at setting up attacks.

More surprisingly, the Cosmos announced that forward Chevone Marsh is no longer on the team. "The New York Cosmos also announced today that Chevone Marsh has been released from the club, effective immediately, due to a violation of team rules," according to a statement. Marsh, 32, officially joined the Cosmos in early July after being a rumored transfer target for some time.
He played in three league matches, one USL Cup game, and both of the team's mid-season friendlies against ASC New York and Liga MX side Santos Laguna. He scored two goals across all competitions. No word on what rule Marsh broke, but it’s another embarrassing moment for the 2026 Cosmos.
