New York City FC returns to Queens for the first time since May 3 to host New England Revolution at Citi Field.
This will be the Revolution's first-ever visit to the big ballpark in Flushing, but it's a second meeting between Pigeons and Revs in a little over two weeks. These teams just met at Gillette Stadium on August 23, the first of what's become three consecutive draws for New York City FC.
The three draws is the pro, the con is that NYCFC's three ties fall inside what's become a seven-match winless streak across all competitions, and a six-match winless streak in MLS play. Home field hasn't provided much advantage of late, either, as New York City is winless across its last three home matches and has collected just 16 points (4W-4D-4L) from 12 home games played so far this season.
The other big thing of note heading into this game: Pascal Jansen's absence. The New York City FC coach is away tending to a personal matter, so this will be Mehdi Ballouchy's second time in two years serving as acting head coach for one night only, with Jansen said to be returning in time for this weekend's trip west to play Real Salt Lake.
