Fresh off a three-game road stretch, New York City FC returns home to Yankee Stadium to face high-flying Nashville SC on Friday night. To learn more about the Supporters' Shield leaders, New York Soccer Journal spoke with Ben Wright of SixOneFive Soccer: Here is your NYCFC vs Nashville SC preview.

1. Historic season
New York Soccer Journal: With a league-record 52 points through 22 games, Nashville could make history by recording the most-ever points in a single season if they surpass Inter Miami’s 2024 tally of 74. With the team fully healthy and practically playing perfect soccer, can anything stop Nashville?
Ben Wright: Probably not? I think Nashville are probably the most balanced team in MLS right now, able to win games in a number of ways. They have an elite, multi-faceted attack, with Hany Mukhtar, Cristian Espinoza, and Sam Surridge forming one of the best frontlines in the league. They're also on pace for one of the best defensive seasons in league history, conceding just 17 goals so far. They're the clear favorites for the Shield right now, but the margin for error is pretty narrow to set the points record.
2. Loanee Elias Saad fitting in nicely
NYSJ: Elias Saad, who played for Tunisia at the World Cup, joined Nashville on loan from German side Augsburg in July. The winger already has three assists in five league appearances, including two in the 4-1 win over Miami. How has Saad adjusted to playing with Sam Surridge, Hany Mukhtar, and the rest of the attack?
BW: Saad has slotted in pretty seamlessly. He's a pretty direct 1v1 attacker, a profile Nashville haven't really had in their squad, but he's also comfortable cutting inside and combining. Paired with Mukhtar and Reed Baker-Whiting, he's been a major upgrade for their attack, and has made them much less left-side focused.
